Natural Joint and Muscle Support
Many things affect the functioning of joints and muscles. Whole World Botanicals offer products based on botanicals that may be helpful in supporting join and muscle health.
How to Reduce Joint Pain
Joint pain often appears because of inflammation that causes swelling and pain. Inflammation can occur because of damage from trauma, from overuse, very heavy work, unaccustomed physical stress on the joints and even by calcium deposits in the joints. Overuse of joints may deplete the synovial fluid causing bone to rub against bone.
There may be an autoimmune issue where your immune system attacks your own body resulting in inflammation. Joint pain can also be a hormonal issue. It is not uncommon for women in menopause to suffer from joint pain. Maca root (Lepidium meyenii) can restore hormone balance and joint pain (if caused by menopause) may diminish rapidly.
Joint pain caused by calcium deposits are often relieved by use of Chanca Piedra (Phyllanthus spp) which is known to help dissolve calcium deposits. Cat’s Claw, as well as Camu-Camu, are very helpful botanicals for reducing the inflammation caused by overstressing the joints. If the problem is caused by many years of overuse of a particular joint such as the knee or the hip, some relief may be obtained through Camu-Camu because natural Vitamin C is known to be a natural pain reliever.
Another botanical called Desmodium (Desmodium adscendens) also has anti-inflammatory properties of the COX-2 type, which is characteristically present with joint pain, such as temporary overuse of a joint (bursitis or knee pain for a couple days after participating in a strenuous sport). Some people have found Desmodium to provide great relief from pain caused by extreme trauma such as that suffered by people in automobile accidents.
How to Reduce Muscle Pain
Muscle pain caused by muscle spasms, contraction or tightness may be relieved by Desmodium, up to 4-5 hours at a time if an adequate dose is taken. This is true for all muscles in the body, wherever the spasm or contraction occurs, including the stomach, the uterus, as well as the neck, back, and leg muscles.
