Authentic Peruvian Maca

I’m always genuinely grateful when researchers release new findings about Maca (Lepidium meyenii/peruvianum), the Peruvian cruciferous vegetable known for its powerful hormone-balancing properties. Since Whole World Botanicals introduced our Royal Maca® to the U.S. market more than two decades ago, we’ve focused on raising awareness of the incredible health benefits of this potent superfood.

Researchers recently published two studies on the effectiveness and safety of Maca. We now have even more scientific proof of what we’ve always known: Maca works! I’d like to share some highlights from their findings.

Give Dads the Gift of Wellness This Father’s Day

Father’s Day is around the corner, and it’s a time when our thoughts turn to finding the perfect gift for the amazing fathers in our lives, whether husbands or partners, fathers, step-fathers, or grandfathers.

The conventional wisdom is that men usually don’t take care of themselves, leaving it up to the women in their lives to ride herd on the health of the men they love. Interestingly, that’s no longer true! These days, more men are making the life-changing choice to follow their annual physical with changes to diet, fitness goals, and supplements. (A recent survey revealed that more than 40% of our Whole World Botanicals’ customers are men!)

Breathe Easy this Spring with Botanical Allergy Support

Spring has sprung, and the flowers, trees, and grasses are all in glorious full bloom. Unfortunately, something else is also in full bloom: spring allergies!

Exposure to spring pollen sends your immune system into a frenzy of activity. Your body starts rapidly making Th1 and Th2 immune cells. Some of us produce far more Th2 than Th1. This imbalance causes histamine levels to skyrocket! And when we have too much histamine, we end up with a variety of allergy symptoms, including:

  • Coughing and sneezing
  • Watery, itchy, red eyes
  • Runny, stuffy, or itchy nose
  • Difficulty breathing, wheezing, shortness of breath

How to Reduce Your Risk for Breast and Prostate Cancer

There’s a time of life when many men and women begin to experience unwelcome changes in hormonal health. Women notice worsening PMS, painful periods, hot flashes, or painful intercourse. Men face less frequent and shorter erections and loss of energy. This time of life is also when we become increasingly aware of the risks of a hormone-related cancer diagnosis. It’s not a theoretical concern, either! If you’re a woman, you have a lifetime chance of developing breast cancer of one in seven. Men have a one in three chance of developing prostate cancer. Yikes!! These statistics can make you feel like a walking time bomb!

In this article, I’d like to share a promising way to help reduce your risk of breast and prostate cancer while improving your sexual health and function.

The Power of WWB’s Peruvian Botanical Extracts

For thousands of years, people across the globe have distilled the healing properties of botanical plants into concentrated tinctures by slowly simmering them in water. I call these extracts “liquid gold,” as they offer a fast-acting, highly effective, and easy way to enjoy the extraordinary health benefits and symptom relief of our rainforest botanicals.

Reconnect—with a Soul Warming, Body Restoring Cup of Tea

Tea drinking is integral to every culture and is so much more than a beverage. A cup of tea in most cultures represents relaxation, connection, and ritual — from the Japanese tea ceremony to the British cuppa.  But in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, people worldwide are reconnecting with another aspect of tea.  Tea as “root medicine” and “leaf medicine” has been essential to the lives of many of our grandmothers and great-grandmothers.

Love Is in the Air with Royal Maca!

Valentine’s Day is on the way, and love is in the air! At least love is supposed to be in the air! For far too many of us, age, stress, and the environment are wreaking havoc on our hormones and preventing passion! That means there’s never been a better time to consider Maca to rev up your hormones!

Less Holiday Stress and Blues with Botanicals

Behind the smiling faces in holiday photos, there’s often a very different story. If you’re like me, you’re shopping, decorating, cooking, entertaining, and traveling – and all these demands are on top of working. It’s no surprise that we end up feeling stressed and exhausted.

The holidays are also a time when feelings of loss are heightened, as we remember people we’ve lost physically and people we’ve lost emotionally. The season of joy can end up becoming a season of sadness or depression for some.

Abuta: A Botanical Breakthrough for High Blood Sugar

It’s a situation that millions of us experience every year. You’re sitting with your doctor, reviewing the results of your annual bloodwork, when the doctor looks at you with concern and says, “Hmmm, your blood sugar levels look a bit high. You need to cut way back on the sugar.”

Americans do have high rates of sugar consumption, but it’s only part of the story. Overeating in general – and in particular, eating a diet high in carbohydrates – also dramatically raises blood sugar levels. And, after years of a high-calorie, high-carbohydrate diet, many of us have underlying pancreatic dysfunction and insulin resistance. As a result, we have become incredibly efficient at storing excess glucose in the bloodstream as fat – and ineffective at burning it off! The result is that almost 40% of Americans are walking around with high blood sugar and its consequences, including increased belly fat, uncontrolled weight gain, and disease-promoting inflammation. In many cases, this leads to prediabetes – a condition where fasting blood sugar levels are consistently between 100 and 120. Untreated, prediabetes often leads to type 2 diabetes, with blood sugar levels consistently above 120.

Autumn Airborne Allergies

Just when the humidity drops, the fall days are sunny, and the nights are chilly, the itch in my eyes would start driving me crazy. For many of us, pollen in the air and airborne substances like mold and pet dander cause the immune system to overreact… known simply as allergies!
