As co-founders of Whole World Botanicals, Elena and I have chosen this photo of two three-year-old Shipibo girls from an indigenous community in the Peruvian Amazon as a symbol of our hope for 2026 and the future of humanity’s relationship with our Healing Earth.
Wishtin, on the left, is the youngest daughter of one of our botanical connectors to the Indigenous community that provides us with our Cat’s Claw, Dragon’s Blood, and Camu Camu. Connectors like Wishtin’s father serve as a positive alternative to the multiple go-betweens most companies use to obtain their raw botanical materials, including the ingredient suppliers of Peruvian botanicals in the U.S.
Elena and I are godmothers to the little girl on the right, Viana Elena, and we are honored that her parents named her after us. Viana Elena’s father is a part-time collector of our botanicals, and her mother creates beautiful cloth embroidered with traditional Shipibo designs.
Wishtin and Viana Elena represent our close connection to the healing power and the spiritual buoyancy of the natural world. This world has a resilience that will not allow us to give up on our efforts to protect it and revere it, in the face of the climate crisis and the degradation of the forest.
