Natural Lung and Respiratory Support

What Toxins Affect the Lungs?

Lung issues often arise when the immune system is weak or with exposure to airborne toxins. Lungs exposed to chemical toxins, such as cigarette smoke, exhaust fumes from gasoline vehicles, fires, household or industrial exposure to chemicals including cleaning products or solvents, air pollution, asbestos, etc., tend to develop an excessive amount of free radicals. Free radicals are unstable atoms that cause damage to other molecules.

Other things that may harm the lungs include exposure to excessive environmental conditions such as extreme humidity or cold, high pollen and other allergens. Lungs may also be affected by exposure to a high concentration of airborne viruses and bacteria, such as in rooms with poor circulation like classrooms or airplanes, subways, or hospitals. Damaged lung tissue can be repaired to a greater or lesser extent by botanicals such as Cat’s Claw (Uncaria tomentosa) and Camu-Camu (Myrciaria dubia), which have the capacity to help reduce inflammation in the lungs.

Whole World Botanicals has several products based on botanicals that support healthy lung function.

How Vitamin C Supports Lungs

A high-potency, natural food source of Vitamin C that is high in antioxidants helps to neutralize free radicals and speed the healing process in the lungs. It can help lungs by repairing damage, lessening coughing and shortness of breath and decreasing inflammation in the lungs. Vitamin C also supports the thin layer of connective tissue that underlies and supports the alveolar cells.

Camu-Camu berries are the most potent natural food-source of Vitamin C on earth. Because the Vitamin C in Royal Camu ® comes from Camu-Camu berries, it is far more effective within the body than the synthetic Vitamin C known as ascorbic acid. Royal Camu ® is very helpful for maintaining lung health when in the presence of excessive toxins, bacteria and viruses in the environment.

How to Reduce Allergies

Allergens may trigger lung muscle spasms making breathing difficult or even impossible. This may be caused by excess histamine release that may result in asthma and anaphylactic shock. Camu-Camu can slow the overproduction of histamine which can cause bronchial spasms. Desmodium (Desmodium adscendens) is another botanical that has been shown in scientific studies to relax bronchial tubes that are in spasm and help restore free and easy breathing. It can help the body metabolize excess histamine. Anecdotally, Desmodium can promote increased oxygen intake by helping dilate bronchial tubes.
