Recently Whole World Botanicals received the following question from a new customer who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis.
Q: Could you please clarify/elaborate more on the stimulating properties of the Royal Maca? I understand your instruction below to start small and watch…however, with MS/auto-immune, you often have no way to tell whether the condition is being stimulated. It happens silently and internally. From my study, it seems that some herbs/botanicals are innately stimulating and others are, by nature, only immune building (for example, garlic is stimulating regardless of whether you have even a tiny amount). Are there any studies that have been done with Maca and auto-immune conditions?
A: No. If you take too much for your body, you may feel anxious, have insomnia, etc. This is a sign of overstimulation. Although Maca Root acts as a tonic and helps the body recover from deficiencies of various kinds, it does not stimulate the body in the sense of making it work better for a whole and then depleting the body. In that sense, coffee is stimulating and so is alcohol (although technically considered a depressant).![]()
